Importance of Tolerance - An Islamic View
By Bonifacio Badri Arribas, Jr.

The following letter, received from one of our visitors, is self explanatory. Thank you. (The Islamic Lord's Prayer is already part of our Special Prayers Collection.)  - Dr. Mathew, Chief Editor, Holisticonline.com

I am a Muslim and love your site. I am not one who practices Islam dogmatically, but am spiritual so I tend to incorporate prayers from different religions into my praise and thanks to God, the Almighty. I'd like to add a prayer for your prayer list which I think will also be nice. (Notice, also, the similarity of this Islamic prayer with "Our Father.")

Furthermore, another verse from the Qur'an is included which states that it is not the religion of choice which determines an individual going to Heaven or Hell, rather, it is the FAITH and BELIEF and BEING of God in His likeness and actions. (This, I think, is often misunderstood by the religious who are too dogmatic in nature and lack open-mindedness as well as tolerance.)

1.

"Our Lord, condemn us not if we forget or fall into error; our Lord, lay not on us a burden like that which you lay on those before us; our Lord, lay not on us a burden greater than we have strength to bear. Blot out our sins & grant us forgiveness. Have mercy on us. You are our protector. Help us against those who stand against faith. Ameen.

Taken from the Holy Qur'An, chapter 2 (The Cow) verse 286.

2.

Those who believe in the qur'an, and those who follow the Jewish scriptures, and Christians and Sabians, - any who believe in God and the last day, and work righteousness, shall have their reward with the lord, on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve.

Taken from the Holy Qur'An Chapter 2 (The Cow) Verse 62.
