In one divorce case, as part of the settlement, the judge ordered the husband, a businessman, to sell all the assets he possessed and pay half of the amount received, as compensation to his wife.

As per this direction, the husband sold off his old farmhouse worth Rs.5 lakhs for a meager Rs.1000. He then paid Rs.500 to his wife.

When the wife complained to the court, an officer on behalf of the judge investigated the matter. He reported that the husband was in the process of selling off all his assets in the same manner! He wanted his wife to lose and feel defeated.
