"As I sat in the darkness, I thought it
was completely dark, but then I began to see shades of light and
I knew I would find my way home"
~Fran Hafey
I woke to sunshine and not the usual cloudy days we'd been having
lately and decided to take a shower before I started my busy day.
After a bodily cleansing by the water, I spiritually saw the
negative energy flow down the drain. I then put in the stopper
and ran hot water for a bath, adding some bath salts. I heard a
sigh come from my mouth as I eased my body into the steamy water.
As I lay there floating away on dreamy thoughts, suddenly the
lights went off and I lay there in total darkness. It startled me
for a moment, but then I just reached out and lit a candle or
two.
I then lay back once again and enjoyed the peace and quiet. It
was incredible and made me painfully aware of how often there is
so much noise around us that we can barely hear our own hearts.
This is a lesson I have been learning over some months now, to be
quiet and listen. So, I took this moment to do just that. I could
even hear the sound the flame of one candle was making. It was a
wonderful feeling. Allowing myself to focus on nothing, just
feeling my heartbeat and the warm water touching my skin. We all
must learn how to turn off the noise, stress and confusion and
find peace in all circumstances, but the quiet is not just what
we hear with our physical ears. It's also the quiet from within.
I was actually glad the electricity went out, because I felt it
was Spirits way of reminding me of something very important.
Usually each morning when I wake, the day would start noise-ily
and sometimes in a whirl. But today, no computer, no noises, no
cooking, nothing except what I chose.
I chose to go outside and enjoy the sunshine, the breeze and the
sounds of nature. I felt peace inside and out and knew that at
this very moment, everything was in balance. It may not have
looked like it, but it was.
I've learned to take note of the smaller things and it's helped
me to handle many tough situations, when long ago, I would have
fallen apart and panicked.
So, I feel that the lights going out got my attention and said,
"do something different today, you might like it!"
When things take a turn and your day may seem out of the norm,
take time to look at all the possibilities and I just bet, you'll
find many blessings just waiting to be noticed, even if at first
you start out, in the dark.
