Shower Blessings, Praise, Love, and Time on Those Around You. 

Encourage one another and build each other up. (1 Thessalonians 5:11)

How many times do we think that we have to be "somebody" to affect the lives of those around us?

If you feel so inclined, try a few of the following suggestions:

• Truly express appreciation for the young man or woman who carries groceries to your car.

• Even if you decline the offer, politely thank the salesman who calls you on the phone and tell him that you realize what he does must be difficult and that God loves him.

• Call your parents or children and tell them you love them.

• Tell a coworker you appreciate what she does because without her your job would be much harder.

• Be interested in what other people have to say.

• Take your children on "dates" with you and let them pick the restaurant. Listen closely as they describe their day. Tell them often that you are proud of them and mean it.

• Leave love notes for your spouse in places where you know he or she will find them.

A friend of mine told me last night that he was proud of me. No one has said that to me in years, but for some reason I felt like a kid again. It's great to know someone thinks enough about you to let you know it.

It doesn't take much to share with someone what they mean to you, but the effect can last a lifetime.

God provides the perfect example for us to follow. Be intentional in showering blessings, praise, love, and time on those whom God brings your way.
