Thanksgiving Prayer
By Wallace Fridy
Eternal God, Father of all mercies and God of all comfort, we lift our hearts and voices to thee this day in grateful praise.
We thank thee for the good earth yielding her fruit and grain for our sustenance. We thank thee for this our native land and our priceless treasures of freedom; for thy mercies bestowed upon this nation and for the ideals of equal opportunity for all. We are grateful for the American dream that protects the rights of the minority and gives the individual a place of importance in our land.
We are grateful this Thanksgiving season for all who have given us a vision of the Eternal "Which has lighted our path and strengthened our hearts. We thank thee for all those whose faith has strengthened our faith. Especially are we grateful for the wonder and majesty of thy nature as we know thee in Christ; for thy love which will not let us go and which cannot be altered by life's changing moods. We thank thee that thou art near us even when we are unaware of thy presence; and that thy purposes for us are always good.
Give us grace to show forth thy praise not only with our lips but in our lives, through Jesus Christ, our Lord.
Amen.
